What is a smart object and what's so good about it?
Let’s just remind ourselves of the latest buzzword ‘non-destructive
editing’. This simply means preserving our original pixels. This allows us
to backtrack to our original image regardless of how many editing steps we apply
to it.
The traditional way of preserving your original is to save the file (at regular intervals).
The more modern and smarter way is using adjustment layers, they impose their
adjustments to layers beneath them without altering the pixels on those lower layers.
