When filming underwater video You must consider how you connect scenes together
The brain is trying constantly to make sense of what
it sees. You can use this tendency to trick viewers into making assumptions.
In the movies conventions are established that make the viewer assume no
time has elapsed between cuts from one shot to another in the same
scene.
If you don't
get it right when cutting between shots you can end up with a jump cut. This is a jolt in continuity. Like shakey
camcorder work it can detract from story flow and draw attention to poor
technique.
Suppose you are filming a close-up of a moray eel
being cleaned by a shrimp at a cleaning station. You pause the camcorder for
a few seconds then start recording again. This will produce an uncomfortable
jar in the action. Either
