Peoples' Vote

2024 has been the year of the bait ball in Bonaire. This tired turtle is looking for a place to rest, oblivious of the cyclone of big eye scan just meters away. Shot with a Nikon Z8/Nauticam housing/INON z330 strobes.

Smaller subjects typically 1 to 3 inches (2.5 to 7.5cm) shot on macro settings or with macro equipment that are in MID WATER not touching anything (i.e. between 1:1 and 1:3)
Caught him Yawning, Roatan, Reefmaster 300 Digital
In Sodwana South Africa. Taken with A Nikon D70. 105 macro lense
Wolf Eels (not really eels) are facinating to observe. They can get into the smallest crevises that look as if they couldn't get their head into it. I also can't imagine chomping into an urchin like they do. Pic taken off Vancouver Isl. with Bonica.
This Moray Eel is going UP!
Rainbow Runner Eye
Sea & Sea MMII
St Lucia, West Indies
Trumpet fish free swimming along the reef.this photo was taken with a canon 10d.

There's something about a hawkfish shot...
Beautifully paired these mandarin were mating. Needs lots of patience to take one shot not to scare them. 8 meters with 105 macro
ANd I thought the queen angels were beautiful. Until I found these in Palau
the beginning of 1-2000
D70 60mm,Manual exposure.
House Reef - Wakatobi
Everyone, heads down!! It was great to get a pic of a Yellow Eyed Rock fish. It was even neater to get this pic where the fish, cucumber and starfish look like they were in a line up. Taken with a Bonica Multi Snapper & Neon slave strobe in B.C. wate
I like the way this guy fits in the frame.
Which way is up? California Sea Lion executes manuever 27A - upside down corkscrew with a half flip. Santa Barbara Island rookery, Southern Channel Islands. D100 in a Titan housing. 60mm lens (not my usual choice for sea lions!)
"Batfish", Ningaloo Reef
Halimeda pipefish of the Lembeh Straits, Sulawesi, Indonesia. Nikonos RS with 2 Nikon SB104 strobes, 50mm lens.

A rare subject. Getting two must have been tough Erin!
almost missed this little fellow but then he moved
'Threesome'
Wakatobi
Southern Stingray. Taken on an otherwise quiet night dive at South Turtle Rocks in the Bahamas. My buddy was videoing on the otherside of a small coral head. This ray swam right at me. Nikon F80 w/ 60mm macro in a Sea&Sea housing.
This Red Irish Lord is another common photo subject in the Pacific NW because of it's colouration and insistance on staying still in one spot. They just DON'T move. Pic taken with Bonica MultiShot and Neon Strobe out of Port Hardy BC.
'Emotion'
