Who is watching who ? Another great encounter with numerable whitetip reef sharks at Roca Partida.
shortlistedShortlisted!
Dolphins close at Roca Partida, wrong lens, should have used 8mm fisheye in stead of 14 mm. They got very close and are rather big :-)
I like the pattern of the shark skin. Must be seen in big format. Fortunately the shark was a kind shark :-)
shortlistedShortlisted!
Galapagos and silvertip sharks at Roca Partida.
Clarion angel fish. Find these in the Socorro Islands, and the manta's are close. The only fish cleaning manta's in this area.
San Benedicto Island, the boiler
Watching in awe. Manta and its companions, Cabo Pearce, Socorro Island.
Who is watching who ? I took place on the balcony on Roca Partida beside the sharks and made the shot, from the sharks perspective. Happy they were docile sharks.
Black manta with accompanying remora's. The boiler, San Benedicto Island. A very special place :-)
My wife and a friendly manta in silhouette. The Boiler, San Benedicto Island.
Big trevally on the fantasttic divesite, the boiler, San Benedicto Island.
Image shot on San Benedicto Island, Socorro. Fantastic diving with friendly manta's. This was a shot that I planned from home (getting a bit above). Turned out to be rather difficult (light, visibility, composition). Well here is the result.
shortlistedShortlisted!
Sealions in silhouette. Very difficult conditions for photography, but I somehow like this result.
Lands End, Cabo San Lucas
Mola mola and happy diver in Crystal Bay. Olympus E330, 8mm fisheye and 2 Ikelite DS125 strobes.
shortlistedShortlisted!
To me, it is always a pleasure to see the beautiful lionfish on a dive.
I think this is the Banggai cardinal fish, which is supposed to be endemic to Sulawesi. However these were found in Secret Bay on Bali.
Green turtles, El Puertito, Tenerife. Olympus E330, 8mm fisheye, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
shortlistedShortlisted!
Beautiful coral in the north west of Bali. Olympus E330, 8mm fisheye, 2 Ikelite DS125 strobes.
Healthy green turtle above the volcanic sand, El Puertito, Tenerife. Olympus E330, 8mm fisheye, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
shortlistedShortlisted!
Flying into Snell's. My green turtlefriend from El Puertito, Tenerife. Olympus E330, 8mm fisheye, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
shortlistedShortlisted!
Top predator. One of my best dives. Spent 55 minutes with 3 of these amazing animals at Daedalus Reef in 5 meters depth. Olympus E330, 8mm fisheye, 2 Ikelite DS125 strobes.
Flying in. Friendly green turtle, my wife and diveguide at El Puertito, Tenerife. Olympus E330, 8mm fisheye, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
At the dentist. Seraya, Bali. Olympus E330, 50mm macro, 2 Ikelite DS125 strobes.

one of a couple of nice cleaner shots this month
Just showing the image with the diver putting a hand on the turtle belly could give an politically wrong image. We literally had to (gently) push the turtles away from time to time. The turtles didn't seem to mind. El Puertito, Tenerife.
Fireworm. I think this format kind of fitted the subject. Olympus E330, 35mm macro, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
Touching the dome. Very curious green turtle in El Puertito, Tenerife. Olympus E330, 8mm fisheye, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.

a non-diver might think this is a giant turtle judging by the diver but we know the scale is misleading due to wide angle lens perspective distortion
Lost in the crowds. Big school of roncadores in Tenerife. Olympus E330, 35mm macro, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
Close-up of whiteeyed moray on the great divesite Palm Mar Cave, Tenerife. I used a big aperture to play a bit with DOF. Olympus E330, 35mm macro, single Ikelite DS125 strobe.
