Different color sea fans. Taken at a depth of about 40ft on a recent trip to Raja Ampat during Xmas 2024. Taken by a friend using an Olympus OM-D with 2 strobes.

Adult escorts are usually but not always related to the calf. An Aunt, sister, cousin, grandmother, or even its mother. They all look after the new one. (taken under permit)

Smaller subjects typically 1 to 3 inches (2.5 to 7.5cm) shot on macro settings or with macro equipment that are in MID WATER not touching anything (i.e. between 1:1 and 1:3)

Due to recent surgery, my husband/dive buddy Jim didn't dive on this trip to Little Cayman, so I took his D300 down and had a blast with it. This Queen Triggerfish was aggressively guarding its eggs, so it was easy to shoot a close-up.

Out looking for shark close ups, ran into this school of fish instead! Used a 60mm lens at f5.6, using strobes.

great behavior shot - the sort always in demand for books
The fish in this photo is a Smooth Trunkfish. The size of this fish is about the size of a pea. I found that this fish kind of buzz's around the reef like a bee. This photo was taken at Santa Rosa Wall in Cozumel.
