Different color sea fans. Taken at a depth of about 40ft on a recent trip to Raja Ampat during Xmas 2024. Taken by a friend using an Olympus OM-D with 2 strobes.

Adult escorts are usually but not always related to the calf. An Aunt, sister, cousin, grandmother, or even its mother. They all look after the new one. (taken under permit)

This species of very large, strong-swimming sea slug (spanish dancer, Hexabranchus sanguineus) is one of the largest of all nudibranchs: in this case more than 60 cm in length.

1/250 at f29 105mm on 400ISO. I am now using a D3 and the quality at high ISO is astounding. Also means I use much less strobe and can shoot 1/250 on f29 in the evening with 3m viz....Fantastic!
Butterflyfish seemed to be more abundant than usual on this dive trip. I caught this one with an Olympus Evolt E-300 with and Inon Z240 strobe.
