This pot bellied seahorse (Hippocampus abdominalis) was swimming around the top of the pier on a dive recently. It was a remarkably inquisitive seahorse - this shot was taken with a Tokina 10-17mm wide angle lens.

Sea Hare egg mass - perhaps dropped from the pier above or stirred up from the nearby boat's propeller but as they are usually found on sandy sea floors I was surprised to see it above me (though quite happy to take advantage of the opportunity).

Took this with my compact canon D10 camera while snorkelling under the pier with my students yesterday. Its a lions tail jelly but quite damaged. I have adjusted the temperature and removed some distracting light patches but liked how it came out...

This is a juvenile Weedy Seadragon (Phyllopteryx taeniolatus) pictured off Portsea Pier, Victoria, Australia. Normally hidden in the leafy plants common to the area this juvenile displayed a tendency to go to the surface when approached.
