2024 has been the year of the bait ball in Bonaire.  This tired turtle is looking for a place to rest, oblivious of the cyclone of big eye scan just meters away.  Shot with a Nikon Z8/Nauticam housing/INON z330 strobes.

Smaller subjects typically 1 to 3 inches (2.5 to 7.5cm) shot on macro settings or with macro equipment that are NOT MOVING usually on the bottom (i.e. between 1:1 and 1:3)
It's alwasy hard to make a good picture of Pygmee seahorses since they keep hiding as soon as you approach with a lens. This time my wife was on the other side of the gorgonian to stop it from moving away and I finally got a good shot.

Miller's Nembrotha nudibranch snacking on one of its favorite sponges. No wonder they have such beautiful blue rhinophores! D100 in a Titan Housing, Komodo.

The dive sites in Rinca near Komodo are rich with these gorgeous, freaky critters. Happily for photographers, the background is often equally colorful. This Crested Nembrotha nudibranch would fit right in as a Dr. Seuss character.

What a treat to find these dramatic Coleman's shrimp in a (relatively) slow moving Fire Urchin. A Zebra Crab was on board the same urchin, but couldn't be coaxed into the frame. D100 and 105 in a Titan housing.
