Smaller subjects typically 1 to 3 inches (2.5 to 7.5cm) shot on macro settings or with macro equipment that are NOT MOVING usually on the bottom (i.e. between 1:1 and 1:3)

Although not as colorful as some Christmas tree worms, this one I found very pretty in it's neutral tones.

A Christmas Tree Worm in Utila. Does anyone know what the purple thing is? Is it the operculum? What is it doing? (Obviously, I'm not up on marine biology - just love to shoot photos.) I KNOW I don't see this on all Christmas Tree Worms.
