Smaller subjects typically 1 to 3 inches (2.5 to 7.5cm) shot on macro settings or with macro equipment that are in MID WATER not touching anything (i.e. between 1:1 and 1:3)

P.S They were swimming around me like they wanted to be photographed (they don't usually do it, because they are delesious)!
My little Sharpnose Puffer stayed still just long enough for a good closeup.
This is the dance of the tiny Yellowhead Jawfish. Can easy stay steadly in a vertical position while dancing with its pectoral fins, and when is time to go just swims on reverse into its hole...enjoy!

Damsel in Distress. This Damsel was guarding eggs on a seawhip. Which kept him in my lens' face for several portrait attempts. D2x 105mm

Frogish with amazing eye.Took a while to spot the little bugger. Muck diving in Tufi, PNG.
You can appreciate the reflection of the flash and the transparency the eyes.
