we were just starting to chill out after the 2 morning dives offf of our liveaboard dive boat in the maldives, when all of a sudden we heard the shout "whalesharkey, whalesharkey". We grabbed our mask snorkel and fins and jumped in. There were several other boats int he area and it seemed everyone had converged on this whale shark. One of the things Cathy Vhurch had taughtme was not to swim linear with marine animals, but in arcs. I separated from the pack andparalleled the whale shark, watching his pectoral fins. When I saw him dip his left pec fin I know he would be coming in my direction. I froze in the water, just barely breathing and when he approached, I was rewarded with this shot.

Bea ready for the house reef dive. In 1998, because of El Nino and the global warming, 90% of the coral in the 30 first feet was bleaching in the Maldives :-((( Now you can see some places where the coral try to growing back.
