Green Sea Turtles can grow to reach lengths of 5 feet and live as long as 80 years. Unfortunately, their numbers are decreasing, the result of habitat destruction (nesting grounds in particular,) boat propellers, and the consumption of both their meat and eggs. This particular turtle was photographed on Molasses Reef within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary near Key Largo where I found him dining on a meal of sea grass and sponges.
