"Freeze Frame"
This large Hawksbill literally swam up to me and stopped mid water. He posed for 10-15 seconds less than two feet away from me and then turned and calmly started swimming in the other direction.
"Aerials"
The Turtle dive always leads to awesome imagery.
shortlistedShortlisted!
"Basslet Smile"
A Portrait of a Fairy Basslet. A very color, but quick moving fish, so it becomes a challenge to get a subject to sit still long enough to focus. The vibrant color of the small Basslet makes it worth the wait.
"In the Trenches"
It is rare to find an Octopus during the day. Generally when we see a pile of empty Conch Shells, we assume there is a hiding eight legger some where close. This one in particular had curled himself up into a tight ball just inside
"Two Heads Are Better Than One!"- I found a coral head with a green moray face sticking out one side, and a super long tail winding out the other. Confident it wasn't a record-size eel, I waited a long while. My patience was rewarded with this image.
"Suspended"
A Jelly Fish suspended in water and light rays.
"Jelly Burst"
A Jelly Fish backlit using the sun.
friendly little guy he is all the time just looking for a friend and a feed
shortlistedShortlisted!
Face to face.
north wall roundabout 10.5 fisheye on a d300 no strobes
A focused diver in good focus. Beautiful diving in Turks and Caicos.
Stingray encounter
When I saw this shrimp holding its ground & posing against the sponge, I knew I had to take the photo as they are usually shy and keeps moving around to hide.
RedEyes can be seen on any night dive getting close to these guys is a fun challenge
Missed the Over part of this split, but got an interesting light from the waves
A Biologist studying these mentioned that she thought straight down was the most interesting angle for shooting Whalesharks,. the spots are cool B&W
"Trumpet Eye"
A Trumpet Fish blends in with a Gorgonian.
"In the Branches"
This Decorator Crab really blends in well with all the Gorgonian Polyps that surround him.
Whaleshark and snorkeler, Isla Contoy Mexico
"Twist"
When you see the Sharks body coil up prepare to see the true speed and power of these beautiful animals. It only takes a split second for them to dart away out of sight.
"Overhead"
A Spotted Eagle Ray trusting me enough to fly right over my head. I try to let the Rays come to me, as I feel the calmer you can stay the more inclined they will be to come in for a close look.
Jellyfish Abstract
I photographed facing up toward the top of the water to include the rippling water, and use the soft, overcast surface light to illuminate the jellyfish. I love how the jellyfish are reminiscent of both ameobas and flowers.
Diver in funnel of Kittiwake wreck
shortlistedShortlisted!
"Apex"
Encounters of the Apex variety.
"Sky High"
A Spotted Eagle Ray flies overhead on the North Wall of Grand Cayman.
Soft swaying with the flow of the current.
"Puzzle Piece"
A Small Blenny lines it self up perfectly with the groove on a Brain Coral.
