Tarpon entering grotto at dawn

During daytime silversides hide in caverns, swim-throughs, grottos and wrecks. As dawn settles the predators follow them.

On precious planet Earth, change is needed. Sometimes people are driven by fear or greed and that causes damage to the balance. One victim is the species sharks, the cruel act of finning decimated numbers by 70%, they deserve respect & protection.

At first glance, thumbnail size this image doesn't have anything to say. Just another bow wreck shot. But when you zoom it... it tells a story and draws you in. Well done Ellen

Shark Buddha
While working on conservation and preservation of the wonderful marine world, we've met this young man with a heart for sharks. He dedicates his life to research and when he is among his friends, you feel the vibes!
'I love you too'
This hawskbill turtle seemed to love me so, he approached the dome to embrace with its flippers. I couldn't get lower or get back since the reef was there, but I just enjoyed the moment!
I follow you!
Shooting macro...I looked up and saw a beautiful reef shark with a little Jack. He stayed with me and my buddy a while, we really enjoyed this natural encounter.
ZEN
My favourite place at dawn. The famous Sandbar (close to Stingray City) in Grand Cayman. We don't feed the Stingrays (we go before the feedings starts). This makes them at ease, like it eases us. They choose to hang around, look, play, rest!

What do we have here...
Even when your strobes don't work and you've lost all colors because of depth (105ft), you always find things you do have, in this case divers and a great wall. Time for a B/W again (maybe I just sell my new strobes;-)
Tarpons and silversides in diver's paradise
First dive with my new camera and a zillion of things didn't work because I hadn't read all the manuals. So...I went ambient and while exiting Devil's Grotto the school of silversides 'waved' to the o...
Ball of silversides...on the roll!
Finally the silversides arrived at Devil's Grotto. Every year awaited by tarpons, jacks, groupers...and divers!

No need for big toys - When knowing how to "draw with the light", even the smallest camera can produce a winner shot. Awesome scene, Ellen !
