2024 has been the year of the bait ball in Bonaire. This tired turtle is looking for a place to rest, oblivious of the cyclone of big eye scan just meters away. Shot with a Nikon Z8/Nauticam housing/INON z330 strobes.

A tiny cryptic teardrop crab inside its cotton candy house! That's actually a purple vase sponge that I lit from the side, to create glow and show off the remarkable color of the sponge.

I love social feather dusters and in Roatan, they are brown to yellow. These were the yellow ones. Shooting then in surge is a challenge, but one I love trying to do it.
Sharpnosed puffer
Eye contact
Peppermint Shrimp (Lysmata pederseni), Roatan, Honduras

"Swish"
During a shark dive in Roatan, the sharks were cruising down below. I kept an eye out above me, looking for a different shot. I love the way the movement of the shark's body curves around the sun.
Frog fish on sponges. Canon 7D, Nauticam housing, Tokina 10-17, Sea & Sea strobes
Secretary blenny, Canon 7D, Nauticam housing, 100MM, Sea & Sea strobe
Caribbean reef shark, Canon 7D, Nauticam housing, Tokina 10-17, Sea & Sea strobes
The seahorses of Roatan are stunning!
Bright orange seahorse hiding in a gorgonian.
Jellyfish Abstract
I photographed facing up toward the top of the water to include the rippling water, and use the soft, overcast surface light to illuminate the jellyfish. I love how the jellyfish are reminiscent of both ameobas and flowers.
Reef squid
Giant Eagle Ray, Roatan Honduras
"Flight" - When I photographed this Spanish hogfish I went for an artistic look: I used a slow shutter speed and waited until the fish was racing over of a field of jagged lettuce leaf coral to provide background texture.
"Dynamic" - This Caribbean reef squid was photographed during the day with a high shutter speed and small aperture.
Roatan, Honduras
"Solar System"
This translucent winged comb jelly was photographed during the day with a high shutter speed and small aperture.
I set my strobes in position to light just the front of this very long tube sponge. All of the sudden, this graysby swam up from the far back of the tube and checked me out, then just as quickly disappeared back down into deep recesses of the sponge.
Lovely little sharpnose pufferfish decided to swim towards me, so I had to take a photo of it.
Juvenile Boxfish. This boxfish was bobbing and around coral and sponges, but nothing that was an attractive background. So I dialed up my aperture to f/3.2 to make a soft background.
Battle Scars

Sharpnosed Pufferfish - these are everywhere in Roatan in the month of May. I love their colors, but it is hard to shoot them, since they flit from place to place so quickly.
This squirrel fish stayed just long enough to snap this shot. I have this on my wall, and I can't walk past it without getting caught up in his eyes everytime! This was in John's place diving in Roatan on my birthday.
A diver models for me inside the Prince Albert shipwreck in Roatan, Honduras. I attached a strobe to the back of her tank and had her hold a Triggerfish sensor to make the strobe fire behind her, lighting up the background.
