From Tenerife, one of a sequence of photos showing a Lizardfish catching and swallowing an Ornate Wrasse alive. The photos had to be taken in between bouts of thrashing by the Lizardfish. The whole sequence can be seen on my Flickr site.

A great study in depth of field - and orange. The popular vote has it this month!
Dragon au naturale.
Green eyed monster. (Nectocarcinus sp.)
Being pretty in pink, doesn't always mean you stand out. This pair of Noumea haliclona are about 10mm long and difficult spot on their pink sponge food source.
According to the Aussies, these Filefish are wearing leather jackets.
What's the matter, haven't you seen a whistling cowfish before...... Shaw's Cowfish (Aracana aurita) - male.
It takes keen eyes to spot a Tassled Anglerfish (aka Tangler) and this is one of the easy ones.

I lifted a metal plate and found this octopus looking after her eggs. Carefully put the plate back down, but discovered on subsequent dive 2 days later, some moron had turned the plate over and left it with eggs and octopus exposed to die. :-(
Runner Up - worthy of note but not a medal winner - an equal 4th place if you like! Runner Up 2010

Final RoundThrough to 2010 awards final round judging
Weedy Seadragon (Phyllopteryx taeniolatus) at Flinders Pier, Victoria. From this angle it looks like it would make a good catapault. ;-)

You have to zoom this shot to 'get it' otherwise it looks a featureless jumble. You'll see what I mean. It's a cracker from that man Mayes...
Tiny 10mm nudibranch (Thorunna florens)
Maybe this Crinoid Shrimp (Periclimenes cornutus) picked the wrong colour crinoid to hide in?
shortlistedShortlisted!
Transparent variant of juvenile ornate ghost pipefish (Solenostomus paradoxus). I think they start out transparent and as they get older acquire their colour to match their surroundings, but cannot change this colour later.
