A perfect picture highlighting the benign nature of sharks. The diver wasn't even aware that he wasn't the center of attraction in the shot, until the shark swam in between us.

Blue bottle bobbing around in a tidal pool at Kalk Bay
The first time underwater fluorescence has been investigated and documented in South Africa - specifically the unique waters of Cape Town. I was very excited to see if we had any fluorescence in temperate waters as it is well known to occur in tropic

Ragged Tooth shark in Cathedral
Submerging - the boundary between the surface and the deep
Fish posing in a "window" on the wreck of the SAS Pietermaritzburg
I have a special fascination for toilets underwater and to my delight this weekend, I discovered that two toilets are now visible on the wreck of the SAS Pietermaritzburg!
Angelfish
Beautiful temperate water garden surrounding an old barge wreck
Artificial Reef made from someone's lost shoe!
Diver exploring an old wreck of a barge just off one of our beaches
Is it safe to come out? Goby hides in a broken off kelp frond while pipefish keeps a look out.
Selfie with a klipfish in the cool Cape Town waters where the small fish have the biggest attitude
Wide angle shot of the typical temperate water reef in Cape Town. Urchins munching their way over the rocks and towering kelp fronds.
We found a trio of elusive pineapple fish hiding in a small tunnel system under the rocks. I love the way their shadows fall on the sand.
I swam into the current to get a shot of the potato bass from the front and my buddy popped up from below the reef at just the right moment. "Carel and Sarel"
Portrait shot of a four colour nudibranch, Canon 70d with 60mm macro
We dived under the jetty at Alimata where we were treated to a circus of nurse sharks and rays feeding off the left overs from the resorts.
I found the trumpet fish posing under an overhang. I have yet to find one that isn't posing!
Playful Cape Fur Seal
he engine block of the Clan Stuart is above the water line at most times (except spring high tide), which provides a perfect resting point for a few species of seabird. We snuck up on them to take some shots but they were more curious than timid.

Macro shot of a fan worm, a unique kind of worm that lives within a tube and extends their feathery tentacles to filter feed. They are quite skittish and withdraw their tentacles when they sense your presence.
Chromodoris magnifica nudibranch
Coral rockcod behind a curtain of glass fish
My first seahorse ever, such a special sighting! There were a couple of them scattered around the reef, they seemed to enjoy the cooler temperatures at the bottom.
