"Under Over" - Two separate photographs that are meant to be viewed together. I plan to print them on canvas and display them like this.
"Two To Tango" - Mating Squid! From what I've read, this is apparently a somewhat rare event to witness.
shortlistedShortlisted!
"Delicate Seahorse" - A white seahorse free-swims between gorgonians. Photographed on the steep Bloody Bay Wall on Little Cayman.
"Seltzer Reef" - Divers' bubbles stream past colorful sponges and coral hanging off Babylon dive site. The dive boat can be seen above the sponges.
Pipehorse Portrait - My first pipehorse! This little guy is less than an inch long, and is very hard to spot with an untrained eye. The background is white from my strobes reflecting off the sand.
Stingray Sandbar is a special place to photograph on Grand Cayman! I have lots of photographs to go through from shooting there the other day, here’s one to start.
"Navy Night" - Carrie Dutchak surfaces following a dusk dive. The lights of Grand Cayman glow behind her.
"Chiaroscuro" - I photographed this arrow crab using one strobe to give strong shadows and light. The title is a reference to the Italian word for this kind of lighting, found in Renaissance paintings.

Magnificent lighting and spot on focus.
"Sweep And Swirl"
Sponges and gorgonians swirl. I photographed this image using a slow shutter speed while simultaneously swimming forward, zooming the lens and spinning the camera. No Photoshop.
"Sweeping Shadows" - A brightly-colored flagfin glass blenny rests on coral. Shot with one strobe on an angle to provide texture. (No snoot.)
"On Patrol" - A Caribbean reef shark sweeps in for a closer view as it patrols a coral reef on the East End of the island.
"Under The Dock" - A school of needlefish race under a dock in Bonaire. Photographed with a slow shutter speed while panning in existing light. The black shadows at left are the wobbly view of the dock piling seen through the water.
shortlistedShortlisted!
"The Whisk" - Silversides appear to be spun as they're drenched by a pool of light. The light is pouring in through a hole in the ceiling of the swim through.

"Pretty In Pink" - Spotted cleaner shrimp portrait as it peers out from the tip of an anemone. When I found this anenome, I thought the pink shrimp on the pink anenome would make for nice complimentary colors.
"Beneath" - A hawksbill sea turtle soars beneath the sun on the East End of Grand Cayman.
"Beautiful Flight #1" - A spotted eagle ray in flight. Photographed at In Between dive site on the Northwest side of the island.
"Beautiful Flight #2" - A spotted eagle ray in flight. Photographed at In Between dive site on the Northwest side of the island.
"The Color Purple" - A blenny peers out of its textured coral home. Tentatively ID'd as a sailfin blenny.
"Storm Light #1" - My favorite kind of light. The clouds brought rain for a few minutes.
Spotted dolphins cruise the surface. What an incredible interaction!
“Come Back...!”
A yellow-headed jawfish appears to look longingly after a diver as he disappears around the Kittiwake shipwreck. I was trying for a different angle on the wreck, and a shot with some fun! 🙂
"False Foe" - A pike blenny darts out at a perceived rival. Shot using a technique I'm developing :D
"Diorama"
A Caribbean reef shark cruises the deep wall. To me, this image is reminiscent of the engaging dioramas at the Museum Of Natural History.
"Bokeh Bouquet" - Colouful coral and sponges resemble flowers in this image of a goldentail eel. I used a shallow depth of field and Nauticam SMC to capture the bokeh.
"Golden Fluorescence" - I've been working on an article on daytime fluoresence. Sneak peek: A golden roughhead blenny, photographed with Nikon D500, Nauticam SMC, shallow-depth of field, and Nightsea fluorescence filters during the day! Woot!
shortlistedShortlisted!
"Ironshore Dreamscape" - No Photoshop. A stingray (lower left) kicks up sand as it sucks up food in the shallows. Photographed next to the ironshore as light rays penetrate.
"Suspended" - A Caribbean reef shark approaches. Photographed on the East End of Grand Cayman.
