Dove this site in August with Indigo Divers. Awesome conditions. Water temperature was 85 to 87 degrees. No current. Minimum surface wave action. Visibility 100+ feet. Almost no particulate matter in the water. Chris and Kate, the dive operators, were great. They were good guides, accommodated our skill level (175 dives for parents, 30 for 16 year old) and took us to sites where my desire to photograph would be maximally served. We will be back. Now I see why the Caymans are the most dived spot in the world.

For wall diving, not for beginners. Great diving, vis 75-100 feet, great swim-thrus. Resort located near marina. Price inclusive of food which is not fancy, but very good. Get up for 7:30 breakfast, at boat at 8:30 for 2 morning dives, return for lunch, back to boat at 2:30, return about 4. Room had enough space to clean and take care of camera, boat had large container for camera, place to rinse and hang equipment after daily dives. One night dive a week. House reef not really close, but diving off boat was always pretty close. Bahamas suffering from infestation of lionfish, so DM's were spearing them all they could. This brings in marine life to feed off spears - sharks, groupers. Saw sharks every dive but one. Saw hammerheads - scalloped & smooth. Saw lots of macro - reef bleaching of 90's is almost gone. Wonderful place to dive, should be on every divers "wish list".

A typical WSW wall dive for Cayman. Just off Smith's Cove at Eagle Ray Rock. There are beautiful swim-thru's and if you can find one that's not highly traveled, you'll see marine life that we have not bumped into. The operators are very into no touchy-feelie, but rookies (and even experienced divers) sometimes get too close. Cayman is great for the small stuff, turtles, rays etc. - if you want sharks, go elsewhere (although we do get a few off the North wall) - the life here is great but look hard and slow down - there's no rush man!

The west side of Cayman is great. It's quite well dived but there's loads to see. Don Fosters are my operator of choice. People say the North wall is better and it is great - but for me, dives on the West always result in great enjoyment. The deep dive is usually to 100ft. and then the following shallow usually to 50. It's usual to see more life on the shallow dive but the deeper dive results in more spectacular stuff as far as I am concerned.
