Dive site is a large underwater pinnacle, starting at 6m depth and falling to 30m. The boat anchors on the top of the pinnacle and you descend to the bottom of the rock and work your way back up to the top in a spiral. Since the rock is away from the main island, the light has made it possible for more kelp to grow on it. Small shoals of Butterfly Perch and Pink Maomao hang out in shady spots under ledges or kelp. Lots of colourful Bryozoans and Sponges cover the rocks and look wonderful in the dappled light under the kelp. Sea Temp 19c (Jan 2008) For photos click here Marine life observed: Grey Moray, Sandager's Wrasse, Butterfly Perch, Pink Maomao, Leatherjacket, Crested Blenny, Yaldwyn's Triplefin, Red Pigfish, Northern Scorpionfish, Variable Nudibranch, Demoiselle and Variable Triplefin.

Electric Beach gets it's name from the power plant across the street. It's located on Oahu's West side. Just take H-1 freeway west until it ends and turns into Farrigton highway. Continue on farrington highway untill you pass the Ko Olina exit. Electric beach will be on the left in just a nother 1/2 mile. Electric Beack AKA Kahe point State beck Park is one of the few places you can dive year round and that makes it also a popular training site. I got my start here back in 1994. Since then i've done hundreds of dives here and seen everything from sharks, dolphins turtles and rays to nudibranches, all the tropical fish to harliquin shrimp. The dives usually range from 20-40 FSW and last about 80 minutes. Water temp ranges from 70 in the winter to 82 in the summer. Vis is from 30-100 feet. The unique thing about this dive site are the two big hot water discharge pipes about 500 feet off shore. The powerplant brings in sea water to cool the turbines then discharges to water back off shore. It's really nice to swim by in the winter time for a warm up. See you in the sea soon, Stu

A colourful wall full of life on one side and a shallow kelp forest with many inhabitants on the other. As you descend you find a ledge at 50 feet, covered in white plumose anemones. This is your chance to make any needed gear adjustments before descending over what seems to be a bottomless wall. Pinks, reds, oranges, purples dazzle the eyes. Soft corals, sponges, anemones cover the wall and king crabs, irish lords and sea purch hide in plain sight. Barnacles feed in the current and divers can float effortlessly as the current takes you gently to the end of the island. When you round the end you enter a shallow kelp forest, home to many different fish, including the elusive rock greenling. What a dive!

The legendary ‘Gunbarrel’ – Not for first timers! An adrenalin dive for the first part of the dive as you fly through an underwater canyon, herding the schools of snapper and surgeon fish through the narrow underwater gorge. Graceful grey reef and white tip sharks glide up and down the walls through all the swirling fish. The canyon then opens up to an underwater beach where the current suddenly stops and we pause and wait for the sharks to return single file past us back into the channel. Then a short swim through takes us out into the clear blue of the Pacific. The second half of the dive is very different – a leisurely meander over hard coral gardens and though a long, sunlit tunnel with a wavy sandy floor, before we drift up through the sun pierced blue to surface by the boat. click here click here

Excellent place to see the entire BIG show. (whale sharks, hammerheads , grays, white tips, and galapagos sharks. Manta Rays, Spotted Eagle Rays, Large Green Moray Eels, etc...) Currents were strong around Darwin's Arch but it made for a very exciting and dramatic couple of days. The diving was fantastic as we had 14 sightings of whale sharks in 2 days. Swimming out into the big blue through a curtain of hammerheads was the most incredible feeling. This place is truly magical and is a must visit if you are a serious diver.
