Launch your inflatable off the beach and head east until you see the two rocks (cow and calf?) On a good day the viz can be 10 metres This site has some tropical looking fish like rainbow wrasse that I haven't sen on other sites. Further off the reef there is a coarse sandy bottom with interspersed rocks Nearest air is Weymouth. Loads of campsites around. Like Osmington Mills (with the fantastic Smugglers Inn nearby)

Loch Fyne is a great place to dive all year round and whatever you prefer your type of diving will be found here. Air fills can be found at Inveraray caravan park this is air only if you need a mix, Tarbert is the place you will need to go to. There is a slipway at the caravan park that can be used what ever state the tide is. There is also a cafe on site that is very friendly and worth a visit while waiting for fills. Basically all along the Loch can be dived.Once stayed in a b&b at Furnace and instead of driving to the area that was intended to be dived we just walked to the bottom of the garden and went in there, two great dives had by all.I must add that although l have stated depth at 30 meter`s there are places where this Loch exceeds well over a hundred meters if you are thinking of diving the loch please ask a local for advice, if you are not sure you can buy a map of the Loch indicating depths. I am happy at 30 meters and always find plenty to see at between 5 to 30 meters so l am sure that will cater for most divers.

James Egan Layne is (22m to scour) 417ft 10,000 tonnes liberty ship torpedoed by U1195 in 1945. Sitting upright in a sandy bottom, with no superstructure remaining and the stern broken off resting a short distance to the south. You can do an easy penetration all the way through, or swim down either side, then at the break swim to the stern. You can enter No1 and 2 holds and swim into No3. The upper deck and the engine room have gone. Two lifeboats can be found 20M from the stern. This is the South Coast's classic wreck dive with so much to see of either the ship itself, the cargo or the life (red & grey mullet, a huge residential shoal of horse mackerel near the bow, bass, pollack, wrasse, congers, pout, pipefish, John Dory, whiting, ling, crabs, lobsters. I even saw my first Sunfish on this wreck!). Easy to find - there's usually other boats hooked into it. Or head for the buoy and you'll find it, or use the satnav 50.19.47 04.14.61 You can dive this wreck from the dive boat Sunfish.
