First time l have dived this site so dont know a great deal about it, but talking to other divers l found it is used for training quit often. Turned out to be a good dive, l will be going back to see what it is like for a night dive. Only down side is there is a long walk from car park area, but not to long to put you off.

Lurefjorden north of Bergen is home to the fantastic deep-sea jelly Periphylla periphylla, also known as crown jelly. There animals normally live on a depth of 7-800 to 7-8000 meters, but in Lurefjorden they can be found thriving in "just" 400 meters of water. To see these amazing creatures it is necessary to dive at night in the winter (february is the best time). The dive is done in the middle ov the fjord, over deep water, as the jellies migrate vertically. The best time is a moonless night between midnight and 02:00. If you're lucky, you'll see thousands! Every february we do a special "jelly safari" weekend with Gulen Dive Resort (www.gulendiveresort.com), the only resort in the world to offer this unique experience. Diving is for advanced/experienced divers only, as it is done in open, pitch black water several hundret feet above the bottom. It is very easy to loose track of your depth as there are no points of reference.

A sack barrow is the best way to get your kit to the end of the harbour wall! Once there it is a relatively easy scramble to get in (by St Abbs standards). You can see Cathedral rock at low tide, that's the best way to find it. A great swim through interesting gullies to get there. It's a great swim through arch with plenty of plumose anemones.

Is this is the ultimate UK shore dive? Drive to the end of Eyemouth caravan park, kit up, and go down the steps. You enter in a sheltered gully but can get some surge. The gully is a dive in itself but usually you turn right along a wall with plumose anemones, dead mans fingers. Of you're lucky you might see wolf eels, if you're unlucky you'll still see more marine life than anywhere else in the UK! If you are energetic and the sea is calm you can swim all the way around the headland and get out in the next bay but plan it, don't just decide on speck. Many experienced divers have got into trouble when the sea blows up. If you use the gully you can get in and out in any conditions.
