Indonesia Bali SeaThe black sand slopes are some of the richest in the world between House Reef and Tulamben' s drop off. The slopes are littered with rocks, barrel sponges and coloured corals.
White-eyed moray eels, long-beak shrimp, lionfish and stonefish. Crinoids, harlequin ghost pipefish, squat lobster, clingfish and glass shrimp.
Each little rock and coral hides an oasis of macro and invertebrate life. Look for mantis shrimp, nudibranchs and sand anemones peaking up from the seafloor. A few resident barracuda scour the sandy slopes, milkfish flourish in the shallows and bull jacks cruise the reefs in search of victims. Graceful white tip reef sharks cruise this area. The hairy crab is a rare find that is known to live by the barrow sponges at the drop off. It is easy to lose track of time and depth here as you become deeply involved in this magical world.

Netherlands Antilles Caribbean SeaThe Invisibles in Bonaire is one of my favorite sites to dive on the main land. It lies fairly close to the salt fields and is easy to find. Entry is relatively easy as well. Large sandy area before you get to the reef is teaming with Spotted Eagle Rays at first light in the morning(definitely worth waking up for). Garden eels are always present as well. The reef starts very similarly to all of the reef on Bonaire with about 40-50 feet of relatively flat to sloping reef and then drops off rapidly to the bottom at a little over a hundred. Visibility seems to be consistently better on this site for some reason. If you did hit the bottom and kept swimming away from shore, you'd end up on the second reef(quite a swim). Typically the reef holds common reef fish, plenty of coral shrimp and arrow crab as well as brittle star, Christmas tree worms, some nice resident adult drum fish, spotted eels, golden eels and an occasional sharptail if your lucky. If you keep your eyes peeled out between the reefs, you may see a turtle, eagle ray or as we got lucky enough to see, a huge, free swimming green moray.

United Kingdom Atlantic (European coastal)Lot of small macro life on a flat gravel bottom with Pentapora foliacea. Not much to see unless you're a macro-photographer - then plenty if you look. Subjects usually around 3 inches or less.

Greece Aegean SeaShallow wreck 10-12m depth. Clear sunny waters 15-20m vizibility. Not a lot of fish but very scenic. You can see the wreck from the dive boat.

Egypt Red SeaGunboat wreck sunk in 1970 in Hurghada harbour by Israeli aircraft on second attempt. Lies at 30M but upper structure and bomb damage at about 25 - 20M. A good final wreck dive before entering harbour at the end of a weeks Liveaboard.

Philippines Visayan SeaEntered from speedboat into shallow, flat coral & sandy plateau. There is a beautiful coral garden that descends several meters towards a slope about 8 meters. From there, it slopes down to a wall at approximately 12 meters. The visibility is prime at this depth. The sealife ranges from macro species of nudibranch, soft coral crabs, occasional pygmy sea horse, sea cucumbers and anemone fish. The living soft coral is abundant, along with sponge coral & fan corals.
I hired a private banca with a dive guide & instructor from Badian Island Resort on their days off. The owners of the resort do not like walk-in divers and require divers to stay at their resort to use their diving facility. But their dive staff is great. They know where to locate what you request, and are highly trained and safe.
