Mexico Caribbean SeaWow - this is a break in the reef on a day when the drift was minimal. Starts as a crack in the reef and proceeds wider to make two walls on either side with beautiful overhangs(and full of critters & fish) - at its shallowest about 30-ish feet, at it's deepest about 60-ish feet, but progresses deeper the further you go and the "break" or double wall progresses to a wall-ish type dive. Since we were so shallow we stayed for about an hour and since we were at our own speed (dive master with my buddy & me), we "sauntered" along at a very peaceful and studied pace. This dive trip (with just the 3 of us most of the time) was one of the most luxurious of my 200+ dives - at our own pace and finally to have a chance to look and _see_ so much u/w, which is a continual wonderment of gorgeous examples of the variety of life.

Malaysia South China SeaTualai island has multiple sites around it. I can't remember which site this shot was taken at! But features of the area are the nudis, turltes, cuttle fish and the corals which are varied and abundant.

Puerto Rico Caribbean SeaPlaya Crashboat is an excellent diving site. It is located on Route 107 in Aguadilla. Offering easy shore entry and exits, it is a must dive for all levels of divers. There are four piers above the water and one sunken. Originally, Navy boats docked there to be ready to rescue downed airplanes from the former Ramey Air Force Base. Max. depth around the piers is 35 feet. There is a vast amount of marine life on the piling of the piers. Often you find a lobster or two under the sunken pier. Turtles and seahorses linger around the pilings. The sandy bottom is home to gobies and queen conch.
For the technical diver, a sunken buoy sits at 120' feet of water. Local divers have marked with lines routes to points of interest such as the "tires" and the sunken buoy.
Puerto Rico Technical Diving Center offers guided shore dives to Playa Crashboat (and other local dive sites) during the day or night for a reasonable fee. Experienced divers may want to rent equipment and do a self-guided tour. PRTDC will give a complimentary briefing to its customers upon request about the conditions and route.

Samoa PacificLocated just offshore from Nu’utele this pinnacle comes up to 3 meters and drops into the depths of the blue (below 40 meters). We found huge schools of fusilier fish, barracudas, Red tooth Triggerfish and larger predatory fish, for example Dog Tooth Tuna, Travelly and of course a couple of grey reef sharks if you’re lucky! Small Eels are in shallower depth. This is an advanced dive as strong currents are regular. This dive is considered as the best dive in Samoa! Variation of diving while being stationary on top of the pinnacle or diving around the pinnacle. Max depth 40 meters. A 35 minute boat ride.

Malaysia South China SeaPulau Perhentian is a great island which is not well known by international divers or travellers. It offers great dive sites and beaches that are not crowded like Bali and Thailand. If you are wishing to go there the best budget places to stay are at Long Beach on Pulau Perhentian Kecil. If you prefer staying at more expensive hotels and resorts you can find them on Pulau Perhentian Besar. Almost everyone on the Island can speak English and they are really friendly. I would recomend to go diving with Spice Divers
website because they are the only locally owned and operated dive shop on the island, they provide the best services and are really friendly. The instructors there speak English, Malay, German, French and Italian.

United Kingdom Atlantic (European coastal)The Persier 50.16.96, 03,58.03
330 ft (30m) 5,382 tons torpedoed in 1945 by U-1017. This wreck is broken but parts sit up to 10m proud of the shale seabed at 31M.
The hull has collapsed but u=you can enter the engine room and the holds. Lots to see including the three boilers, 8ft anchor, prop shaft tunnel and other 'ship-shaped' bits (the three guns & prop have been salvaged). Lots of life again, pollack and sea fans especially.

United KingdomThe Perrone
(30m) 320ft long, torpedoed by UC-65 in 1917. An interesting dive as the wreck lies in two halves, with the stern section lying alongside the starboard side, can be difficult to see the whole wreck on one dive. Some nice swim-throughs on this wreck, can be dark.

New Zealand PacificBeneath the waves at the Poor Knights an ocean of diving has been compressed into a relatively small area. The caves, arches, tunnels and sheer cliffs provide a great variety of habitats to explore.
From turbulent sunlit waters and kelp forests on the upper reaches of the tumbling "giant staircase," to the dark waters of the islands' many caves, the Poor Knights offer an extraordinary variety of underwater experiences. Sponge gardens and gorgonian fields are inhabited by a myriad of fish, shellfish, urchins and anemones, with black coral found in deeper waters.
The steep cliffs, which fringe the islands, plunge 100 metres below sea level in places before reaching a sandy seafloor.
The arches are some of the most interesting places to explore. A rich nutrient soup is washed through them, feeding the countless animals that compete for space on the walls. Squadrons of stingrays can also be found cruising the waters of the archways during warmer months.
Many of the subtropical fishes living in the marine reserve are found nowhere else in New Zealand, having found their way to Poor Knights on the subtropical East Auckland current. Some of the fish include subtropical species such as spotted black groper, mosaic moray and Lord Howe coralfish. They are renowned for their friendly nature and make visiting the marine reserve a truly memorable experience.
Nursery Cove, The Gardens and some of the shallower parts of the South Harbour are the best places for novice divers. Experienced divers can find spectacular and challenging dives all around the islands.

East Timor Banda SeaLocation: 9.5 km West of Dili. A few hundred meters after passing the Pope's monument and right before the big rock turn right on the dirt road to the water's edge.
Entry : Big rocks on entry then sandy bottom to a gradual drop with the reef to the west
UW profile: Initially, sandy bottom with coral cover on the slope ranging from 5 - 21 meters.
Points of interest: Coral garden slightly West of the entry point at 3-5 meters depth. Coral head at 20 meters with interesting mix of fish, moray eel, groups of 5-7 lionfish. Also seen: Puffer fish, turtles, ghost pipe fish, stone fish, frogfish.
Great place for night dives since it is only a 15 minute drive from the center of town.
Topside: Open expanse with no trees.

United Kingdom Irish SeaDon't be put off by all the local industrial plants. This bay is a corker and pretty sheltered in most blows.
I dived this with a club squidgey boat. I can't remember the name of the wreck but it was the easiest wreck I've ever found and only 3M at the top. Next to a buioy I think.
Second dive was a drift over a flat seabed. Everyone else though it was crap but if you looked close it was gopping with macro life

United Kingdom AtlanticThe shore diving is some of the best in Britain. Shore diving is especially good in the vicinity of Bovisand Fort (the old national diving centre) but it is often ignored in favour of the offshore wrecks. However, this area is, in fact, immensely scenic, especially the rock-pools and gullies immediately in front of the bar.

Papua New Guinea South China Sea It doesn’t get any better than this! The diving left us speechless. From
the untouched beauty of the bommies to the tiny, weird creatures in the muck, to
the B-17 Blackjack bomber, everything was superlative. We saw everything from a
Harlequin Ghost Pipefish to a Hammerhead. Be careful of the Panda Anemonefish–they
are quite aggressive and they bite hard!
There is even a Nautilus dive where a cage is sent down with bait and several
Nautilus are brought up for the divers to see and hold. The crew then takes the
animals back down to 200’ where they are released unharmed.
- The Ranch
--So called because of its resident pygmy seahorses, at about
20 m.
- Silver & Black
--A fun dive site, where a flutemouth hovered over
me to hide as it stalked prey. The main attraction is a sandy plain with
hundreds of garden eels, bobbing and weaving in the current. Schools of
triggerfish and other reef fish. At night, we saw two ocellated epaullette
sharks, an enormous grouper, blue spotted rays, and even a dime sized octopus
free swimming in the blue.
- Jason's Reef
--Two bommies where Rhinopeus have frequently been
spotted.
- Bunama Beach
--A muck dive site, filled with fantastic creatures! A
pair of harlequin ghost pipefish, numerous porcelain crabs, eels, seahorses,
lots of shrimpfish flitting through the seagrass, double ended pipefish, red
tailed pipefish, a variety of outrageously colored gobies, and much more. At
night, we watched a color show put on by a cuttlefish, a swarming ball of
catfish feeding, a shy little cowfish, and ghost spider crabs. Fantastic!
- Ayers Rock
--Again looking for Rhinopeus, again failed. A great
consolation was a mature blue ribbon eel as well as the black, juvenile
version.
- Observation Point
--Billed by the divemaster as a great muck diving
site, it was a bit disappointing. Nobody could find much of anything.
- Wreck of the B-17 "Blackjack"--
Lying at 48.5 meters. It is
almost perfectly intact, with very little encrustation to mar the beautiful
lines of this enormous airplane. Such is the condition of this plane that the
twin cannons in the tail turret still move in their mounts, and the belt of
bullets is still clearly visible. Reach into the cockpit, and you'll find that
the pilot's yoke still moves. The nose of the plane is caved in from the
impact, and the propeller tips are bent back, but it still looks like the
plane is ready to fly
- Kearst Reef
--A blue water dive, this was a bit disappointing. We did
three dives, and only managed to spot one very shy gray reef shark, a small
school of barracuda, and the occasional moray.
- Deacon's Reef and Dinah's Beach
--Two dive sites close to each other.
The boat tied up at Dinah's Beach with two tenders running divers over to
Deacon's. I'd seen Deacon's in various books I'd read before coming, and I was
shocked to see the difference between the present day Deacon's and the
pictures I'd seen. It seemed like 50% of the fantastic profusion of red whips,
sea fans, and other coral formations had died off, leaving scars of dead coral
pieces lying about. This seemed to be diving heaven! Frogfish, eels, mantis
shrip, octopus, ocellated epaulette sharks, cuttlefish...simply everything was
here! And the best part about Deacon's/Dinah's is the shallowness, which meant
some marathon 100+ minute dives. All told, I was underwater nearly 7 hours
that day!
Basilisk Point -- Basilisk was the worst sites of the trip, a wall dive
where some mantas occasionally pass by.
