Palau PacificThis is one of my favorite dives in Palau, and is best done on an incoming tide. Dive starts when you drop down a mooring line and swim with the reef wall on your left until you reach the mouth of the channel wherein you stop and hook in to watch sharks or other big fishes go by. After this, you to the mouth of the channel, an area where currents can range from none to very fast! The channel has a sandy bottom at the center, around 30-40ft in depth, and on both sides, you can see a lot of nice macro life and a lot of sharks too! The most visually stunning part of this dive is the big patch of lettuce coral on the right side as you move along the channel. It is like a huge condominium of fish. If you have to choose another dive site next to Blue Corner, then Ulong Channel must be on your list.

AustraliaShallow Pier Dive (3-4m depending on tide) best dived after a few days of northerly winds.
Plentiful of life on the pylons and in the seagrass. Some of the 'residents' are Bullrays and Eaglerays, Morwongs, Goatfish and Cowfish to name just a few. Lots of macro life around too and for those with good eyes the occasional pipefish can be spotted in the seagrass-beds. The site is best known though for the abundance of Weedy Seadragons. Even in near zero visibility it would be impossible to miss them :D

Japan Philippine SeaOsezaki caters to divers. It was fairly good walk from the parking area to where we did our first two dives, but we were able to rent a cart for 500 yen to put our dive gear on. There is a paved path along the beach and the area is obviously set up for diving. A paved path with a rough surface (to reduce slipping) leads right to the water. Once in the water there is even a post to lean on while you put on your fins. Lots of rocks down to about 15 meters, then a wide expanse of sandy bottom as it gradually slopes down. Starting at about 20-25 meters we started to see lots of coral and the bottom continued to slope down. O

Gear up on car park above the Marina and walk down the stairs. Take care to stay under the pier and well away from the boats during the dive.
