United KingdomSwanage pier is the ideal night dive. Even though the pier itself closes at dusk it remains easily accessible from the beach in front of the adjacent yacht club. The marine life on the night shift differs considerably from that found during the day. Even barren ground, such as the sand flats, plays host to flatfish, baby cuttle, and squid.
Tompot BlennyAt night the wall where the hardboats moor is accessible with out the danger of a prop behind the ear, it comes alive with prawns squat lobsters, and tompot blennies.
On one night dive last year I was attracted by the frenetic swinging beam of my buddy’s torch and, upon investigating, discovered the object of his attentions was the largest conger eel I have ever seen! It was inhabiting a discarded drainage pipe that, on a dive earlier that day, I was poking my arm into!

United KingdomLooking for great Pike shots?
Pike may be able to avoid most anglers, but they will usually allow divers to approach and study them, beating a hasty retreat only at the last moment. They are nevertheless frustratingly difficult to capture on film. As an underwater photographer, I have spent much time trying to get the pike shot - you know, the one that is a definitive expression of the popular image. Unfortunately I have not, to my own satisfaction, so far succeeded.
Kevin Cullimore, probably the country’s top freshwater u/w photographer, had long urged me to try my luck at Gildenburgh Water. He recommends a 28mm lens to capture medium to large pike on film - and plenty of patience

United Kingdom AtlanticThe shore diving is some of the best in Britain. Shore diving is especially good in the vicinity of Bovisand Fort (the old national diving centre) but it is often ignored in favour of the offshore wrecks. However, this area is, in fact, immensely scenic, especially the rock-pools and gullies immediately in front of the bar.

Venezuela Caribbean SeaArchipielago Los Roques is a National Park protected since ~ 1972. The biodiversity there is amaizing and the clarity of the water is equal or better compared with the most known places around the world. You have all the facilities to practice scuba diving, snorkelling and specially to make the underwater photography the most interesting challenge. A perfect place for wide-angle and macro UW photography and also for who are interested in fish photography.
I highly recommend this site for all kind of diving activities, the people is very friendly and almost everybody can speak in english. You have PADI and SSI diving centers and a lot of little hotel (2 stars) just to rest after the diving activities. Is a national Park and the facilities are not resort-like (5 stars).
If you want to check the kind of picture that you can get there, try to acquire the Book :"PECES del Archipielago Los Roques" in Spanish and written by Humberto Ramirez Nahim (UW Photographer) and Fernando Cervigon. Agencia Espanola de Cooperacion Internacional.
Best Regards & enjoy your next visit
Cristian

Spain Mediterranean SeaMenorca has very clear water all year round, there is diveschools all round the Island so diving is possible any day of the year. Water temperature goes down to 12ºC in spring and a comfortable 24ºC during the summer months. The north side of the island has a marine reserve that allows divers with a permit (easy to get), there marine life is recuperating from the rediculous fishing regulations in Europe that allows overfishing to the professionals and is tough on sportfishermen with their speargun... We do have very interesting caves all round the island, very good places for photography. Marine flora is abundant and makes dives rather colourfull on sunny days. There is a few wrecks worth the dive for the ones that like depth, below 40. As far as I know one of the best places to dive in the Mediterranean Sea.

Netherlands Antilles Caribbean SeaThis is the house reef for the Sunset Waters Beach Resort. The resort is very nice with excellent service.
The reef is easily accessible from a man-made lagoon and so well marked that it is a cinch to navigate day or night. You needn't stay at the resort to dive here. If you are a shore diver (like me), follow the sign to "Airplane Wreck" (adjacent site) and rent your taks at Sunset Divers (on the premises).
Seahorses and frogfish are common on the reef. Inqure at the dive shop about the latest sightings. They keep informed and will happily direct you to the latest sightings.

Philippines Canyons
22m-32m (72ft-105ft)
Travel Time: 6min
Ability Level
Flood Tide - Adventurous (Advance Divers + )
Ebb Tide - Adventurous (Advance Divers + )
/ Wild (Advanced Divers with signbificant experience)
An advanced dive that requires a good dive guide to allow for the currents to sweep you into position. Racing over several small drop-offs below the Hole in the Wall covered in soft corals and sponges, you can duck into and one of the Canyons for a respite from the current. There is much to find on the bottom but primarily it is the large schools of snapper, emperors, sweetlips, barracudas, jacks, trevally and occasional sharks that make this an exciting dive. The dive ends at a 1½m/5' anchor embedded in the coral, where the group can gather before being swept off to the safety stop in the current. Excellent Nitrox dive. The most popular dive site in Puerto Galera - you'll want to go back time after time.

Cyprus Mediterranean SeaThe site is protected by the local RAF base, who have also provided much of the artificial reef, including a helicopter and fire engine. Tight control of access so not suitable for casual attendance - you need to get there via a local dive operation who will book the time slot.
Once there, just enjoy! A very easy dive - my wife had just completed her Open Water - but an incredable amount of fish, all very interested in people. Very shallow - max 6m/20ft depth so non-divers could even snorkel there, but check with the dive operators first. Photo opportunities beyond compare, and youll run out of time before you run out of air at those depths!

Oman Indian OceanI have been diving i Oman for a few years now, both North and South, but my favourite dive will always be the aquarium. I have always tried to end the weekends diving with a visit to the aquarium, its an easy shore dive, entering in a small rocky gully sinking down onto table coral where we find all sorts of small marine life, usually lobsters hiding in the coral and puffer fish hanging around. we then make our way across the bay to the aquarium itself. It starts off with a small rocky reef, loads of small fish, clown fish in their anemones, scorpion fish spread around, you can usually see rays and turtles here. moving towards the mouth of the bay you pass through the main coral which is covered with small marine life and for a while we had our own nurse shark, which hid amongst the coral, then pass on to the wall keeping an eye out for lion fish, stingrays normally settled on the bottom, depending on air consumption you can exit the bay to check out bigger reefs, but then turn around to pass back through the bay again, I will always love this dive. Thi is a very good dive site to train on, the middle of the bay has a flat bottom with sand, after carrying out your training you can show students lots of life and it can all be contained withing the bay.
Only problem with the site is it is 80 km from Salalah, the nearest big town and we always took all our own equipment and compressors, camping on the beach for weekends and longer when there are holidays.
The dive is also a good snorkelling site.
