It was a beautiful dive considering when we went to the keys. We went during the time hurricane Bill and Tropical storm Anna were passing by so the seas were really rough, with strong surges it wasnt easy to photograph anything, or just dive. I would love to go back and see this reef in normal conditions.

Empire Mica is a freighter sunk during WWII by two torpedoes from the German submarine U67, 33 seamen perished during the sinking. Horrified residents on the shore could see the ship as it drifted in flames for more than 24 hours. Exact location is 29° 18' 54.8 N 085° 21' 11.69 . One of the giant propellers from the ship was salvaged and sits in front of a popular seafood restaurant in Panama City, FL--Capt Anderson's. A spare prop was located on the deck of the ship, but that portion has since collapsed, and it is much more difficult to find.

Always a favorite, Fantasy Reef is an East-West running reef off of Hawaii Kai and is routinely visited by some of the dive boats staging out of Koko Marina. Turtles are almost always present, and there are a couple of nice swim-throughs, White-tip Reef Sharks are common, in fact the last time we dove it there were three babies (about 2 ft each) under one of the ledges. If you have a sharp eye you may be able to find some Striped Pipefish. We've also had encounters with Eagle Rays and schools of Reef Squid.
