Although it is expensive to stay on this tiny island it is well worth the money. The island itself is a turtle conservation island. There are more turtles than people here and you will often find turtles laying eggs in front of or under your bungalow during the night. At sunset the turtle conservation people will release baby turtles back into the sea and when you go diving there's a good chance of seeing turtles mating at the surface. This island is well known for its manta rays, but there are many other rays too such as blue spotted maskrays, cowtail rays, eagle rays, marbled rays and many otheres. We saw a few white tip sharks and leopard sharks and many many cuttlefish. There is not much macro life, but we still found a few beautiful nudibranchs, shrimps, jawfish, hawkfish and other small fish. There are some very nice wide angle photography opportunities here.

Tulamben Bay, Bali, Indonesia. Several resorts in Tulamben, Bali, Famous for the wall/drop off and the Liberty wreck. Approx 2 to 2.5 hrs by road from Denpasar airport, there are several local restaurants in Tulamben and they are inexpensive. Mimpi resort is friendly and the diving from there is well organised and right on the beach. The beach is made up of large and small pebbles which makes walking uncomfortable and over many day's, your feet can become sore. There are porters available who carry your equipment if you dive at the wreck or the drop off. The sea can be flat calm, and also quite rough, entry and exit over some large rocks below the surface can make things difficult, when getting in and out watch for the waves. The bay in front of Mimpi Resort is black sand and not a lot to look at unless you are into macro, if you are then the diving is very interesting and there are lots of different and new species of Nudibranch to be found.

Hard to get to and expensive to dive but well worth the effort. At the moment there are only two divecentres on the island. Diving is organised off speedboats or from shore. The reefs are nice but for me the best dives are under and in between the numerous jetties. Lots of green turtles can be found munching the seagrass and excellent macro stuff under the jetties. You can easily take some great pics while snorkling at low tide in 20-30cm of water. Vis is generally around 15m and water temp 28C

This is a small island with a huge lake inside. After Palau it is the best place in the world to find non-stinging jellyfish. It is an unforgettable experience to swim without fear surrounded by jellies. If you go there don't forget to explore the magnificent shoreline. The overhanging branches of the trees are covered in colourful sponges and some beautiful nudis can be found here.

Our stay was at the Mimpi Resort, Tulamben. All shore diving here from a pebble beach, sturdy footwear is required as the pebbles are large and hurt your feet. The resorts are all on the beach so no lugging of gear as porters are allways on hand. The sand bottom is black volcanic sand, there appears veruy little life at first but when looking closer the macro life is amazing, Nudi's are everywhere. From Mimpi resort and across to the South (right hand side of bay) is the drop off, to the North (left hand side) is the Wreck of the Liberty, worth diving as there is lots of fish life there. Good for wide angle.

a narrow channel between these 2 large islands which can flow with quite a strong current in the middle although it is quite calm along the sides. The channel has trees growing overhead and teems with marine life below the surface. Huge gorgonian fans and soft corals etc, even growing on the dead trees that have fallen into the water.

This photo was taken on my trip to Lembeh Strait Indonesia. We were on a night drift dive when I snapped this shot. What a lucky one I was! Surgeonfish and cleaner shrimp in pink barrel sponge. I was using a Nikon D80 with Ikelite housing and my 18-135mm lens. This was my favorite shot of the whole trip!

Weh Island or Pulau Weh or Pulo Weh is a small active volcanic island to the northwest of Sumatra. It was originally connected to the Sumatran mainland and became separated by sea after the volcano's last eruption in the Pleistocene era.[1] The island is situated in the Andaman Sea. The largest city on the island, Sabang, is the westernmost outpost of Indonesia. The island is known for its ecosystem; the Indonesian government has declared 60 km² of inland and sea around the island as a wildlife protection area. A rare megamouth shark species was found on shore and the island is the only habitat for the threatened toad, Bufo valhallae (genus Bufo). Coral reef areas around the island are known for their large variety of fish species.
