Spain Underwater Photo Sites (9)
As you enter the ocean from the jetty at Plya Chica, it is a short swim to the left of the bay and you find the drop off on the reef wall at about 15 meters depth depending on tides. Here is a little wreck of an old steel boat on perfect condition, even the propeller. It has become part of the reef in it´s little sheltered recess off the reef wall. It is a great place to dive because of the wreck and the abundance of oppotunities to photograph marine life with both interesting backdrops and natural lighting. I recommend this sight to any diver no matter what their interests in diving is.

Enter from the pier at Playa Chica, hole in the reef around 25m bottom at 30m - really tidal so can be shallower. 2 Shrimp caves to the right as you go down the Blue Hole, catfish can be spotted here (30m). Pinnacle straight in front of the blue hole, beautiful site - especially if dived at the right time of the day the lighting is brilliant. Can be dived all year round, water temperature ranges from 18 (feb) to 25 (july-august) Has unique topography thanks to Lanzarote being a volcanic island. Huge range of marine life, sun fish (mola mola) have been spotted in 3m of water, angel sharks, rays (electric, common atlantic sting, eagle, even the rare Manta Ray has been spotted here) sea horse, trumpet fish, octopus, the list keeps going!

Harbour Wall Night diving This site is ideal for night diving no matter what pour experience is. There ia always an abundance of marine life to see and depths range from 8-22 meters. The dive starts with the harbour wall on your right side and on the return it is always on your left so this makes it easy to navigate for the inexperienced and always gives them a point of reference if they get dissorientated. For the more experienced night diver, at the base of the harbour wall are large sand beds where rays and angel sharks can be found sleeping. There is also the "Blue Hole", a nice swim through where lots of night time marine life is to be found, such as shrimp, slipper lobster and large hermit crabs. The back of the blue hole opens up at a depth of around 25-30 meters depending on tides. The currents are usually very mild so it gives you ample time to concentrate on your photographs without fighting for bouyancy or pisitioning. In general a great site for night diving at any level. There are lots of parking areas and dive centers like Manta diving that are located at the site.

A great place to dive from. The initial dive entry point gives you access to a minimum of 6 different sites depending on experience. This means that no matter how many divers seem to be entering the water with you, each dive site is never crowded, giving you lots of time to try and catch a good photo or just enjoy the large amount of marine life that is with you as soon as you enter the water. Visability is always good, varrying from 10-30 meters and with water temperatures not droping below 17 degrees even in the coldest months and reaching as high as a warm 25 degrees in the summer months it is a very enjoyable place to dive. Marine life to see includes all the Ray family (even the big Manta on very rare occasions), Moray Eels, Dolphins, Nudibranches, multi-colored corals and algaes, shrimp, cuttlefish, seahorse, and nearly all the Atlantic species of fish there is on any given dive you take.
