Interesting dives around south coast of Malta and around Valetta Harbour. Most dives are shore access - occasionally difficult egress! Lots of marine fish life but often same species. Not a great diversity. A smattering of invertabrates including urchins and fire worms. Excellent wreck diving, including "Rozi" (30m) and HMS Maori (17m).

An extremely accessible yet diverse and interesting wreck dive coupled with 2 separate anchors, a shallow but colorful wall and an underwater statue placed their recently by divers. The wreck, which is called the Rosi, is of large size and lies just very slightly tilted. The deepest part, the propeller, lies at 32 meters. It is in pristine condition and is visited often by divers who bring food and thus have encouraged large shoals of friendly, medium and small sized fish. Small groupers are frequent spots, as too are large Morey ells.

Red Coral Reef is a dive that you can stay just about as long as you like. It is only 10 meters deep so your deco time is a gift from god:) also since it is not deep the colors shout out at you and it is one of the few places in the med you can see the red coral. It is located right off St Julians. We had gone with one of the dive shops in St Julians (Neptunes Dive Center). They have a dive boat and it only took us 5 min from the base to get there. If you like colors this will be the dive for you! See Also click here

Dwejra has about 4 dive sites and a multitude of possibile dives. You can start from the inland sea and swim out through a tunnel, start from the Blue hole and then swim out. You can also opt for a boat dive to Crocodile rock where depths of 40m are easily reached. The swim out of the tunnel has some spectacular photographic opportunities, and it was this site that encouraged me to take up underwater photography. There is also the Coral Garden, with some lovely colours. There is also a large cave to the right of the inland sea, but this should be undertaken as a boat dive as there is a long swim. Its one of the few place in the Maltese archipelago where one can see large groupers. One of the main attractions of this area is the colour of the sea. The blue here is like nowhere else in Malta or Gozo. This area is very popular with tourists all year round. I hope more people visit the islands to see our extensive heritage, the oldest erect building in the world is in Malta, and our clear blue waters with many wrecks and sites to visit. Look for Malta and diving on the internet, and you will find some interesting pictures of what is available in Malta. See Also click here
