Member since: Monday, October 24, 2011 | I'm a marine biologist and use a Canon 550D EOS with an Ikelite housing (and strobes) with a Tokina 10-17mm lens.
I currently lecture at a number of universities in Australia while also setting up a marine research centre (with my wife) in the provence of Vava'u, in Tonga.
I'm also completely addicted to underwater photography! I first started diving in 1990 - stopped counting at 4000 dives about 10 years ago - but have only been taking photos since late 2010. I've been in love with the flora and fauna that inhabit the marine environment ever since I was a child and for the first time in my career I've found a way of communicating that love clearly - through a lens!
My enjoyment of this competition is not to contend with anyone else but to continually improve my own technique and understanding of the art of photography - and ultimately represent as truthfully as I can the awe I feel towards, and the incredible beauty of, the marine realm and the life it contains!
