On our way to 65' depth to watch the sharks in the strong currents. Used reef hook to tie in and wait for the show when this nice moray decided to run by us in all his glory. Many of the dive sites from this live aboard had strong currents, but also lots of sharks, mantas, and other large fish.

During our dives we have encountered amazing marine life, large amounts of sharks, mainly white tip and grey reef, large shoals of jacks, snapper, surgeon fish and fusiliers. Large groupers can be seen on most dives and we have also seen some of the biggest hump head wrasse we have seen for years. Turtles abound, Manta rays are common and eagle rays, we spotted regularly.

This reef is famous for its friendly Potato Bass nicknamed 'Bert' there are several other large Bass around the reef but Bert is the only one that will swim with you. On the way down the mid waters are filled with game fish. The five rocks that make up this reef are covered with soft corals where Lionfish (often you will see over a dozen at once) and Sweepers lurk. In the overhangs you will discover Shrimp cleaning stations and Octopus, among the sand you will see Carpet Eels and various members of the Manta family. Bert is an amazingly friendly (and large) Bass More Ponta dives: click here

Beautiful Soft Coral covers this area of potholes, ledges and gullies, Flutefish, Trumpetfish, Crocodile fish, Lizardfish, leaf fish, are some of the wonders to be found around this site, a Loggerhead Turtle is also often in residence and Dolphins have been seen around this area too. Always a relaxing dive which you can drift around and admire all the busy reef life that is so abundant here. No matter how many times I did this dive it was fantastic. Famous for the Manta Rays it is named after this is a dive you will never forget, there are three cleaning stations which the Mantas circle around. Positioning yourself well and remaining still you can get these amazing creatures to float right over you, please be responsible do not reach out to touch! The reef has a huge overhang where a Potato Bass is resident, while Red Fang Trigger Fish, Yellow Snappers, Bigeyes, Fusiliers and Trumpet fish are to be found all over the reef. Cleaner Wrasse of course are in abundance doing their job and occasionally a Devil Ray meanders in to see what is going on. Often this is a negative entry dive. I loved this dive seeing those amazing graceful creatures is a sight you will never forget. other dives I have done in Mozambique click here

Have ben diving at Shark Point several times with Peponi Divers. Its a PADI and BSAC diving centre. Shark Point was my No.1 dive site because it was very colourfull and there is a wide range of under water life. We had a good chance to spot 5 White Dip Reef Sharks, 2 Green Turtles and a big range of different fish at the same time. Also we spotted a huge Patatoe Grouper. The top of one dive wes to see a Whale Shark on the surface. We could swimm with the giant for about 10 to 15 minutes. I can really recomend the diving at Mombasa North Coats as it was my first time to dive in Kenya. I will deffenetly go back there to enjoy some more wonderfull dives. All the best to Chris, the owner of Peponi Divers Mombasa
